It looks like a slight turn of events for the wildfire burning southeast of Okanagan Falls.
The BC Wildfire Service reported that cooler temperatures and a couple millilitres of rain in the area has restricted spreading of the fire and decreased the amount of visible smoke.
According to Fire Information Officer Shannon Street, the Eagle Bluff Wildfire experienced limited growth over the weekend and the evacuation alert for the Regional District of the Okanagan-Similkameen and the Osyoos Indian Band has been rescinded.
“It is still burning, it’s still considered an out of control fire, we just haven't seen a lot of activity yesterday and today so we're not anticipating a huge increase in the size,” said Street.
Crews have planned more controlled ignition operations in the next few days and we may see an increase in size as a result, said Street.
Helicopters are supporting crews on the ground by using buckets and belly tanks to cool the area and suppress hot spots.
The BC Wildfire Service notes Eagle Bluff as 2632 hectares in size.
