An Evacuation Order has been issued for residents on the Okanagan Indian Band in Vernon because of flooding - 115 homes are affected with 50 of those permanent residences.
Officials say they're still assessing the damage, but it could include water in basements. Chief Byron Louis says with an estimated 750 residents on the shoreline, managing the flood response has been a massive endeavor.
Evacuees are asked to check in at the emergency reception centre at the Vernon Rec Centre on 37th Avenue.
The Okanagan Indian Band will host an information meeting Thursday for members impacted by flooding, including residents of Westbank First Nation.
Officials from Environment Canada, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and the First Nations Health Authority will be in attendance.
The meeting will be held at the Head of the Lake Hall, 118 Head of the Lake Road, May 25th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
