West Kelowna fire crews say a family has been displaced after a fire at a townhouse at the Okanagan Metis and Aboriginal Housing Society on Ingram Road this afternoon.
Just before 3 pm, the fire started in one of the units, though the cause of the fire is not known yet.
West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund says when they arrived, the house was engulfed in flames.
"We responded with multiple crews and on our arrival found one of the units fully involved with the fire, spreading to the unit next door," he said "We did what we could, knocked the fire down, unfortunately the damage is significant in one unit and there is definately some extension next door".
All the residents got out safely but the residents in the atatched unit next door will also likely be temporarily displaced.
The Society provides affordable housing for people living in West Kelowna who are of Metis and Aboriginal descent.
