The Finlay Creek wildfire, southwest of Peachland, has increased in size to 2,139 hectares - and remains only 15% contained.
The BC Wildfire Service says the fire is extremely challenging for crews - not only is the forest tinder, dry - but it's burning in steep terrain.
Officials say there was a lot of growth on the south slopes of Mount Acland where a controlled burn has been initiated to remove fuel between the fire and the guards - and it's also active on the northern flank, as well, where crews and heavy equipment will be establishing new guard.
In all - 61 firefighters, 11 helicopters and 23 pieces of heavy equipment are in the fire zone today.
Structural protection personnel have also assessed the southern flank - and set-up equipment on high priority properties.
All Evacuation Orders and Alerts remain in place, and an area restriction for all Crown land is also in effect.
