The Finlay Creek wildfire, southwest of Peachland, remains at 1,000 hectares in size.
Information Officer Heather Rice, at the BC Wildfire Service, says on Monday, personnel were able to map the fire's perimeter more accurately from the air, and have cut it back from their last estimate of 15-hundred hectares.
Rice says the steep terrain, gusty winds and dry conditions have made the fire difficult to control - there hasn't been significant rainfall in the area in over 12 weeks.
Crews and heavy equipment worked overnight on building new guard around the fire's perimeter and reinforcing pre-existing lines. Rice sdays it's a Rank 3 - which means very active particularly on the southern flank.
She says crews are working with a Structural Protection Specialist in the south area to protect buildings. BC Wildfire has reports buildings have been impacted, but there's no assessment yet as to what types of buildings.
Currently 35 firefighters, 7 helicopters and 18 pieces of heavy equipment are working on the blaze.
