The Finlay Creek wildfire, south of Peachland, was active overnight and grew from the last estimate of 100 hectares.
Kamloops Fire Centre Information Officer Rachel Witt says they’ll have a new estimate later this morning after mapping is complete.
Witt tells AM 1150 News, there are 22 firefighters, three helicopters and one piece of heavy machinery fighting the blaze – and a bird dog aircraft is currently determining objectives for air tanker support.
Evacuation Alerts are in place for 100 properties and residents can find more information at cordemergency.ca
Meanwhile, the Philpott Road wildfire in Joe Rich, east of Kelowna, remains at 465 hectares in size and 30% contained.
Witt says there are 81 firefighters on site, along with 6 pieces of heavy equipment and helicopters – support staff are also in the fire zone and structures are currently being evaluated.
She says crews will work today to strengthen control lines in preparation for possible windy conditions.
