The Finlay Creek Wildfire, south of Peachland, remains at 1,000 hectares in size.
Fire Information Officer Rachel Witt at the Kamloops Fire Centre says tonight – 7 firefighters and 4 pieces of heavy equipment will continue building fire guards, that’s down from 23 firefighters who worked on the blaze throughout the day Sunday.
Witt says there was not much change in the fire’s behaviour today – it remained at a Rank 2 or 3 with smoke and visible flames.
She says the BC Wildfire Service is aware that some structures have been damaged, but they have no indication how many, where they’re located or what kind of buildings. Witt says Regional District staff will have more information once they can access the area to make an assessment.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
