Kelowna fire crews had a busy afternoon when a fire was reported at around 12:27 pm.
17 personnel, 3 fire engines, and 1 safety vehicle arrived at the scene to battle the blaze, which was coming from a house on Hollydell Road in the Rutland area.
At one point, the fire was so strong that the firefighters had to douse part of it from outside before being able to enter the building.
After the fire was put out, fire personnel stayed at the scene to douse any remaining flames and investigate the cause of the fire.
1 person is in hospital with unknown injuries, and 5 are being assisted by ESS with temporary lodging.
The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time, although smoking may have been a factor.
