West Kelowna Fire Department is reminding the public once again about the importance of getting your chimney serviced, after they were called to another chimney fire.
It happened yesterday evening at around 6:30pm at a house on Inverness Rd. in the Glenrosa area.
When crews arrived, they found visible flames shooting from the chimney but they were able to quickly extinguish it. 15 firefighters, 3 engines and 1 command vehicle responded.
Luckily for the homeowners, the damage was minimal and they will not be displaced.
The fire department says homeowners should have their chimney and wood burning appliances serviced on a regular basis. If anyone is concerned about the condition of their chimney or fireplace they can contact a professional or the local fire departement for assistance.
The public is also asked to keep fire hydrants near their home clear of snow, so firefighters can access them quicker.
