We may get our first taste of winter this week.
Doug Lundquist with Environment Canada says air from the Northwest Territories will be flowing into the Okanagan this week, bringing with it snow.
“As early as Wednesday night into Thursday we’ll start to see rain mixed with snow and then as we get into Friday, more into the snow category, and then on the weekend probably mainly wet snow.”
For Halloween night, there's a 60 per cent chance of rain.
Lundquist says the snow won't be here for good, as warmer temperatures are expected next week.
“I don’t want to put a number on how warm it’s going to be, that’s beyond the end of our forecast, it’s more than a week away,” he says “But when we do see it warm up it’ll probably melt any snow that accumulates in the valley bottom anyway.”
Lundquist says normally the first snowfall isn't until late November, early December.
