On March 28, 2021 just before 2:00 a.m., RCMP, the Kelowna Fire Department and BC Emergency Health Services were called to the Postill Lake Road area for a report of multiple stabbings at an outdoor gathering.
The initial investigation has revealed that a group of teenagers were having an outdoor party on Postill Lake Road when a second group arrived at the location. The situation quickly escalated into a violent altercation between the parties.
A total of eight people were brought to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services for treatment of injuries sustained in this incident.
A 25-year-old woman was treated for injuries caused by a blunt object. Four adult men (ages 19, 19, 19 and 18), and a 17-year-old male youth were treated for non-life threatening stab wounds in hospital and later released. While an 18-year-old man and 16-year-old male youth were treated for serious stab wounds.
The adult man who was arrested has been released without charge pending further investigation, and West Kelowna RCMP has identified further potential suspects in the matter from both parties.
“This is a large and complex investigation, and we are still in the beginning stages of gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses, victims and suspects,” says Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP.
