The clean up continues for West Kelowna residents following flooding over the weekend along Gellatley Road.
Resident Mike Kuziw says six inches of water made its way into his garage from the street and began spilling into his crawl space.
"We were good here until about 4:30 pm Friday. There was water on the street and it wasn't that bad. Then the Bennett Bridge, which was damming up a lot of the debris, let go and that was it. It just couldn't keep up".
Kuziw says it could have been worse without the quick action of the West Kelowna Fire Department, who began piling up sandbags to protect his property.
You won't see residents living on Marshall Street taking away sandbags surrounding their properties anytime soon.
Some are bracing for more flooding later this week.
Homeowner 'Dave J' says the water spilled over the banks of Mill Creek in a hurry.
"The creek was going along good, below the dike and then it just started coming up and up and coming over and kept rising. It was a foot over the dike and then came roaring through the yard, all in a matter of three quarters of an hour."
With the water levels rising rapidly, some residents on Marshall Street used sand from a nearby beach to fill them in an effort to save their homes from flooding.
