34-year-old Jacob Daniel Forman, accused of killing his wife and two daughters, made his fifth court appearance Friday morning.
As he appeared via video conference, Forman once again appeared stone-faced and emotionless.
His defense counsel, Glenn Verdurmen, told the judge that he and his client had agreed to waive the preliminary inquiry, as there was clearly enough evidence to justify a jury trial in the future.
Verdurmen also stated that Forman’s case would be moved to the BC Supreme Court.
“Because of the nature of the offense, that’s the court that is the only one legislatively that can make any final decisions on it,” said Verdurmen.
Verdurmen is hopeful that his client will enter a plea during his next appearance on Monday, May 28th.
He was unable to comment on whether or not Forman had undergone a psychiatric assessment while in police custody.
Forman was arrested on December 19, 2017, after the bodies of his wife Clara and their two daughters were discovered inside their Rutland home.
He was initially charged with three counts of second degree murder, although two of these charges were upgraded to first degree murder last month.
