Former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien is in town.
He's here for a motivational speaking engagement. Canada's 20th P-M also made a stop by Liberal candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country Stephen Fuhr's office, where he had high praise for the city.
"This is a city of the future," he said. "High tech and the university. Keep it up, it's the way of the future."
Chrétien didn't want to comment on the specifics of the federal election campaign, but he did talk politics.
"When I listen to the speech of the far right wings of the Conservative Party, they want to import to Canada the Trump type of attitude that I don't want to have here," he said. "We are all equal here."
Chrétien showed he hasn't lost his touch either.
"The Liberal Party is the greatest political institution in western democracy, probably. We always kept the same name. We never changed the name. It's been the Liberal Party since 1867," he said to the laugher of the crowd of Liberal supporters.
Chrétien is not the only former Prime Minister in town. Stephen Harper is also here speaking at the same event.
