The wind in Penticton went from calm to strong out of the south.
That is what fire officials worried as they battle the Christie Mountain wildfire.
Penticton Fire Chief Larry Watkinson says they have sprinkler systems set up to protect vulnerable homes.
"We set up an elaborate sprinkler system that brings the relative humidity up creating a humidity bubble and that helps reduce the ember transplant. So when an ember falls, it won't have the ability to ignite. It will just fizzle out."
Watkinson says 110 fire fighters from municipalities across the province are in Penticton to protect homes and will be there for as long as they are needed.
