Hazmat crews are on scene at the Best Western Hotel in West Kelowna.
According to the West Kelowna Fire Department, a hotel employee inadvertently mixed chemicals used for cleaning the pool.
The ensuing chemical reaction and hazardous fumes prompted fire crews to evacuate the building.
Multiple staff members have been taken to hospital.
The Hazardous Materials unit from Kelowna Fire and Rescue is now working to clear the air.
Hotel employees and guests are expected to be allowed back into the building later on.
