With just under two months before the MacKenzie Tour lands on the doorstep of Gallagher's Canyon Golf and County Club, work is already underway to bring the fairways and greens up to pristine shape.
With the event slated for June 11th to the 17th, Gallagher's general manager Peter Hopley says the course fared well over the long winter.
"This year, as everyone knows, this was a long winter but their was snow coverage the whole time. We didn't get the crazy cold temperatures. We didn't have the melt to barren ground and then freeze afterwards. Those are the tough conditions for golf courses, so overall we are pleased with how the course fared".
This will be the third year of the prestigious event, which in the past has attracted close to 8 thousand spectators over the four days.
"May 1st is always that date that we like to feel the golf course is in prime condition. The event being June 11th, I think we will be fine by June 11th and our goal by May 1st is to be in great shape", Hopley added.
This years event is offering an increased purse of $25 thousand dollars.
