Gas prices are taking another hike up.
While some stations are still selling at around $1.19 a litre in the Central Okanagan, Dan McTeague with Gas Buddy.com expects them to be selling for $128.9 by tomorrow at the latest.
“If you see a 119.9, I’ve been doing this for well over 20 years, my advice is get it, pick it up, because it may not be coming down,” he says “For a couple of weeks anyways.”
McTeague says the disruption of the Explorer pipeline in the U.S. is contributing to the drive up in price.
“It delivers a lot of gasoline from the U.S. Gulf Coast all the way up into the Chicago, Illinois, Indiana markets and that’s really what’s causing a bit of a rally in gasoline prices. Unusual by the way for this time of year given that demand tends to slack off.”
There are also increases on the spot market out of Chicago- which influences most of the gas prices in Western Canada, with the exception of the Lower Mainland- due to concerns with production.
In Vancouver, gas is currently at 143.9 cents a litre.
