As we near the start of the summer travel season - Kelowna drivers are paying one of the highest pump prices in Canada - $114.9 a litre.
Gas Buddy's Senior Analyst Dan McTeague says retailers in Kelowna are pocketing a generous 13 cents a litre.
"The average, depending on where you are and the cost, is anywhere from 8 to 12 cents a litre," says McTeague. "Calgary retailers, right now, are making about 6 cents a litre, Edmonton is about 6, Regina and Saskatoon at 7 and 6, Vancouver 12, Toronto about 10. You're much higher than what we would see normally - you're at the very, very high end."
McTeague says the price of gas in Kelowna Friday is not far from last year's price - maybe 2 or 3 cents higher - and is not expected to change much.
"It looks like prices could also dip a little further before they start to go up a little bit," says McTeague. "I'm not seeing a lot of volatility in gas prices this summer."
He says the national average is $108.9 - the cheapest June 9th to fill up since 2010, when gas was $99.7 cents a litre.
