A sure sign forest fire season isn't that far away.
A brush fire Wednesday afternoon along Highway 97 and the Connector provided for some anxious moments for fire crews.
West Kelowna Assistant Fire Chief Chad Gartrell says a police officer, driving along the highway spotted the blaze.
"It is kind of a typical early season fire. We have the high grasses from last years growing period that are all dried out. Any source of ignition can light them".
Both West Kelowna and Peachland fire crews assisted in putting out the fire, which was about 200 meters by 200 meters in size.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
