Some good progress has been made by crews working on the Christie Mountain wildfire near Penticton, which has now grown to 2000 hectares.
Officials though are concerned about possible forecasted high winds.
Regional District Chair Karla Kozakewich with a warning for those on evacuation alert.
"Now is the time to activate your household emergency response plan," Kozakewich says. "And if you don't have a plan, now is the time to get prepared.'
BC Wildfire Service's Mitch Pence is on high alert.
"I would say based on that fuel type, if we get some strong winds, then our lines will be challenged."
Fire Information Officer Nicole Bonnet isn't ruling out the wind pushing the fire back towards Penticton.
