There’s been little change at the Harding Creek Wildfire, 15 kilometres northwest of West Kelowna.
“We didn’t see any fire growth overnight so it’s still 1 hectare. There is a heavy piece of equipment out there, which is a water tender. Crews worked into the evening yesterday, past dusk, and we’ve got one crew that went out first thing this morning,” said BC Wildfire Service, Fire Information Officer, Nicole Bonnett.
More fire fighters have since gone out to assist, but no air support was planned for today.
Bonnett says the fire isn't an immediate threat to properties. “It’s a little ways out and it’s in a pretty difficult-to-access area so there’s no structures or anything.” Initially that created a challenge for fire fighters to find the access route the area but Bonnett added, “We’ve been on-site since yesterday so they’ve figured out their ways in.”
The cause of the Harding Creek Fire is still under investigation.
