West Kelowna firefighters responded the Petro Canada gas station at Ross Road and Bartley Road yesterday afternoon.
It was just before noon when the internal fuel filling equipment on a powerboat leaked more than 100 litres of gas into the hull and engine of the vessel.
Both the Kelowna department's hazmat team and provincial contractor helped in the cleanup.
The gas that was sunctioned up by the contractor's vaccuum truck went into a holding tank, and will be re-used once its been tested and approved.
As a result the gas station and nearby streets were evacuated and shut down for several hours, eventually re-opening at about 5:30.
As well, West Kelowna crews responded to a fire in a home at Concord Road and Hudson Road on Saturday night.
When firefighters got there, they were able to knock down the flames as they spread up to the attic, which helped limit fire and water damage in the home.
Officials say the cause hasn't officially been determined, but it is being treated as suspicious.
West Kelowna RCMP have taken the lead on that investigation.
