The BC Wildfire Service has played a significant role in protecting homes, parks and critical infrastructure during the flooding along Okanagan Lake.
Over 200 personnel have been deployed to the Central Okanagan since the beginning of May, with the primary goal of filling sandbags and building barriers.
Wildfire Management Specialist John Davies says it can be a tedious job, but so can fighting forest fires.
"You give these men and women a task and they set about getting it done and they don't stop until that task is done or they are told to stop and go home and are done for the day. They are highly trained professionals and they have a work ethic that is beyond reproach."
Davies says given the the low fire danger rating, crews are able to assist with the situation in the Central Okanagan.
