Kelowna’s Gospel Mission invites their friends and neighbours to a “Homelessness is No Picnic” BBQ on Saturday August 5th from 11am until 2pm at the Jubilee Grandstands in Kelowna City Park.
The BBQ is aimed to shed light on the fact that even though many of us are in “summer mode” people who are experiencing homelessness are still struggling. They are at-risk of severe sunburn, heatstroke, and dehydration.
Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s Executive Director, Randy Benson, says “Summer in the Okanagan is a fun, happy time for most people. Our homeless people, however, struggle to find suitable, affordable housing in a time where the rental market is extremely competitive. We invite our friends to come together, have a burger and get to know their community members.”
Kelowna’s Gospel Mission is grateful to Gordon Food Services for providing food for this BBQ.
