A heat wave is expected to hit the Okanagan and Environment Canada is warning temperatures are expected to soar.
Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau says daily temperature records could be broken, including all time records for the month of August.
"For this week, with this ridge sitting over us, the dry, hot weather is expected to continue. We don't have any rain in the forecast. The one cavet with this is we are also seeing wildfire smoke."
Charbonneau says Thursday's temperature will reach 36 degrees, which is just shy of the 37 degree record set in 1998.
"It is not uncommon to get a ridge of high pressure that gives us a stretch of hot, sunny weather. But even for this time of the year, this ridge that is building is unseasonable strong. So, temperatures in the mid to upper 30's is unseasonable warm", Charbonneau added.
