An eroding shoreline on Okanagan Lake has city of Kelowna work crews doing some maintenance near Hot Sands Beach.
Senior Project Manager Andrew Gibbs says they are moving sand from the south end to the north end.
"What we are trying to do is correct some of the erosion problems we are having up towards the point at Hot Sands Beach. Currently and historically, the wind and waves generally comes from the northwest and they strip the sand off the point and they move it downstream to the south towards the bridge”.
The trial project started Tuesday and should be completed in the next week.
Gibbs says the city has approval from the Ministry of the Environment.
