At approximately 6:30 pm Wednesday, Kelowna Fire Dispatch received numerous 911 calls reporting a residence on fire in the 3600 block of Lakeshore Road in Kelowna.
On scene, the first arriving officer confirmed a working fire with flames coming from the second story windows and roof of the residence. The crews performed a defensive attack from the exterior and protected the other residences to the north and south. Fire crews remain on scene as part of the building has collapsed and complete extinguishment is difficult. No occupants were living in the home at the time of the fire.
Four Engines, a Command Unit, Rescue truck along with 17 fire personnel were on scene to fight the fire along with assistance from RCMP, BCAS and Fortis Electrical.
Fire cause has not been determined and will be investigated today..
