Drivers in Kelowna are being reminded to watch their speed and drive sober after a close call over the weekend.
Kelowna RCMP officers say they were conducting road checks on the William R. Bennet Bridge late sunday night when they noticed a black Chevrolet Cavalier speeding towards them.
They say the car came to a screeching stop just short of colliding with stopped police cruisers. The 49 year-old woman behind the wheel failed a breathalyzer test, blowing twice the legal limit for alcohol.
According to the RCMP, the Cavalier had sustained front end damage - including a flat tire - prior to being stopped by police.
The driver now faces potential impaired driving charges.
Kelowna RCMP say they will continue to conduct road checks throughout the holiday season.
