On Tuesday, July 31st, work will begin on widening Airport Way at YLW.
After removing some trees and shrubs, crews will work on adding a westbound lane on Airport Way between Highway 97 and the Okanagan Rail Trail.
Vehicle traffic is not expected to be significantly impacted during construction, which will wrap up sometime this fall. Additionally, no flights will be affected during this time.
This is one part of the YLW 2045 Master Plan, which looks to improve the facilities at the Airport to the point where they are able to keep up with the growth in the region and serve 3 million passengers a year 30 years from now.
A future phase of construction involves creating a roundabout on Airport Way at Lochrem Road, providing easier access to the Airport terminal, tenant properties, the long-term parking lot, and Airport Plaza.
