The world is taking notice of Interior Health's response to the opioid crisis in BC.
A report detailing its mobile supervised injection program - in Kelowna and Kamloops - has been published in this week's Harm Reduction Journal.
Special RV's offer a safe place for drug users where they can be monitored and treated if they overdose.
Since 2017 - the Kelowna service has had over 37,700 visits. In Kamloops, almost 10,300.
Interior Health is also trying to better track overdoses, get more people involved in the take home naloxone program, and expand mental health and substance use treatment programs.
