Snow and blowing snow is on the way for the mountain passes, and this has prompted Environment Canada to issue a Special Weather Statement for the Okanagan Connector, the Coquihalla and Highway 3.
Starting Saturday - the weather office says a strong Pacific low pressure system will move east across Washington State bringing snow throughout the day - and at the same time a blast of Arctic air will arrive tomorrow night bringing strong winds and blowing snow.
Right now - the forecast is calling for total snowfall amounts between 10 and 20 cms with locally higher amounts possible.
The snow will ease on Sunday, but the wind will continue to howl.
Environment Canada says cold, drier weather and lighter winds are in store for early next week.
