It's the new kid on the block.
Canyon Falls Middle School in the Mission opens this fall.
Principal Jim Laird is excited about opening its doors September 3rd.
"In our first year we are starting with just two grades. We will be starting with grades 6 and 7's. In year two, those students will all stay with us and then we will be at grade 6,7 and 8's as a new round of kids comes in. We will be at capacity in our second year".
With a capacity of 750 students, Laird calls it "the nicest school in BC."
The cost to build the facility was just over 36 million dollars.
"Our environment is a little more open and flexible. There are still classrooms, but we have the ability to be flexible and take advantage of the space we have and make larger spaces or smaller spaces and change the environment so its more student centrered", Laird added.
