One of the key recommendations in the Bill McKinnon Public Safety Report to Kelowna City Council is that the city take the lead in finding and implimenting solutions to the growing addictions and homelessness problems.
John Howard Executive Director Gaelene Askeland says that's a vital step for the future. She says, "We all kind of muddle through together, doing things as we can in a collaborative way. But there does need to be leadership. As McKinnon recommended quite clearly, the city wears it one way or the other".
Askeland says housing and services are critical components in the struggle to help the homeless to not only deal with demons, but return to health and society.
