UBC Okanagan is looking for a new director of athletics and recreation.
Long-time employee Rob Johnson has held that position for over 10 years and has been with the university for over 25 years.
Johnson was instrumental in UBC Okanagan's 2010 bid for inclusion in Canadian Interuniversity Sports (now known as U-Sports), the highest level of university sports in the country.
It is unclear if Johnson resigned or was forced to step down.
Johnson remains at the university in the faculty of education.
According to an e-mail from UBC Okanagan, the vacant position is expected to be filled shortly.
Six Heats teams - men’s and women’s volleyball, soccer and basketball now compete in U-Sports.
