The first-degree murder trial for a New Zealand man accused of killing his Canadian wife 7 years ago has been moved from Kamloops to Kelowna.
It will be the second trial for 61-year-old Peter Beckett, after the jury in his first trial in Kamloops last year couldn't reach a verdict following 7 days of deliberations.
Beckett's wife, 50-year-old Laura Letts-Beckett, drowned in Upper Arrow Lake near Revelstoke in August 2010. Beckett was charged in her death a year later and has been in custody since.
The trial by jury is scheduled to start on August 21 and will last 4 weeks.
Beckett was a city councillor in Napier, New Zealand for one-term in the late 1990's before moving to Canada.
