Home on Agricultural Land Reserve
Council endorsed plans for a farming family to build a 7,000-sq-ft home on agricultural land at 298 Cornish Rd. The Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) recently introduced new regulations limiting the size of a principal residence on agricultural land to 5,300-sq-ft. The provincial government will consider exempting homes from the new rules for homes that are occupied by farming families with different generations living under one roof.
Zoning bylaw updates
Council heard an update on proposed zoning bylaw amendments. The updates will coincide with the development of the new Official Community Plan (OCP) 2040 and the goals of Imagine Kelowna. The last significant updates were 21 years ago. Public engagement on the proposed amendments is expected later this year.
