The Kelowna Curling Club is raising funds with the help of SaniPur to combat the financial strain caused by COVID-19.
General Manager Jock Tyre says they'll be selling hand sanitizer over the next few weeks.
"We started sales and we've had some businesses buying in on it which is awesome, because it is a case lot sales so we're looking for bigger volumes. So far we've done about $8,000 in sales. Our goal is about $40-50 thousand at least."
The not-for-profit club had to cancel all regular summer events as well as the World Mixed Doubles and Mixed Seniors that had been scheduled for April, losing revenue and expenses from planning.
Tyre says a member and employee of SaniPur proposed the idea after hearing of the club's struggle, noting that the idea is perfect with hand sanitizer in high demand.
