Another phase in the Interior Health and Surgical Centre project at Kelowna General has been complete.
Over the weekend, cardiac patients were moved into a new, renovated inpatient unit, complete with 16 private rooms.
It's located in the hospital's Stratchona building, in a unit that was freed up when nine older operating rooms were relocated to the Interior Heart and Surgical Centre building.
Cardiac Medical Director Dr. Guy Fradet says the private rooms will provide more privacy for patients and help with infection control.
The next phase in the project includes renovating 2 West, the unit where the 16 beds were moved from. This includes creating single patient rooms and common spaces.
