A Kelowna man has been found guilty of fraud and theft after he stole $2 million from a former Google executive.
In August 2010, Dan Anderson was looking to buy a 3D video company from Bart Woytowicz with money he said he was going to make through the sale of patents.
Woytowicz developed the company after serving as the Director of Advertising Sales and Operations for Google from 1999 to 2004.
Anderson told Woytowicz he needed to prove that he had financial substance in order to sell the patents, so Woytowicz agreed to lend him $2 million dollars with strict conditions the money was not to be touched.
But on the same day Woytowicz tranferred the money to a bank account, Anderson removed it.
He was found guilty at the Kelowna Courthouse on Friday and will be sentenced at a later date.
