A 21-year-old Kelowna man is facing numerous charges after being chased down by police, both by vehicle and on foot.
Around 4 AM, a police officer pulled over the suspect, who was driving a grey Toyota Tacoma pickup truck near Spall Road and Springfield Road. The vehicle did not have its lights on, and there was significant exterior damage on it. After pulling over, the driver suddenly reversed into the police car before quickly driving off.
Very shortly afterwards, that same vehicle was spotted driving dangerouslyalong Clement Avenue near Spall Avenue. Officers resorted to using a spike belt to take out the truck's tires, but the suspect kept driving on rims before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot, until several officers were able to catch and arrest him.
The truck in the incident was reported stolen on December 1st from Bird Place in Kelowna. Several tools commonly used in vehicle break-ins were found in the truck, as well as a fully loaded shotgun.
Any witnesses with information regarding the incident are encouraged to contact the RCMP at 250-762-3300.
