A Kelowna man is in custody after an alleged assault at the Okanagan Sikh Temple on Monday morning.
According to police, the man was behaving aggressively towards people at the temple before attacking another man inside.
The victim and another person eventually wrestled the suspect to the ground before officers arrived to arrest him.
"Both men should be recognized for their bravery and determination in subduing the suspect, despite being injured during the physical altercation,” said Corporal Jesse O’Donaghey with Kelowna RCMP. “These men more than likely prevented further similar attacks against other innocent bystanders.”
The 29-year-old suspect remains in custody facing potential charges while the target of the alleged assault was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the altercation is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP.
