New Year’s party-goers kept it fairly safe this past weekend.
Kelowna RCMP Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey says there were no major disturbances or incidents.
“Officers throughout the Kelowna Regional Detachment Area responded to just over 100 calls for service and that was during a 12-hour period during New Year’s Eve night and New Year’s Day and that was just slightly lower than the same time period last year” he says.
The majority of calls were related to alcohol incidents, disturbances, and traffic complaints.
O'Donaghey says most drivers also kept it safe on the road, with only a handful being found under the influence out of the hundreds of cars that were checked during traffic stops.
Officers were also on patrol at Big White, where they responded to about 12 complaints.
