The deadline for the first round of retail cannabis store applications passed last Friday - and the City of Kelowna says it received 41.
Planning Manager Ryan Smith says they'll continue to accept applications - but only those received prior to November 30th will be considered this time around.
Smith says the re-zoning process typically takes between 4 and 6 months.
The applications will be evaluated by a panel of city staff and the RCMP to determine which ones best comply with appropriate zoning and bylaws, security plans and neighbourhood fit.
And to keep things transparent - the application process will also be overseen by an independent consultant.
Smith says applicants will be notified in early 2019 if they meet criteria.
