Here's a story you may have missed.
The Kelowna SPCA got a huge donation this week from a young Kelowna woman who makes her living as a professional gamer. Back in June, Kristen Valnicek was involved an a pro-am Fortnite tournament in Los Angeles where the winnings were donated to charity.
She was on the team that finished third and her charity was the Kelowna SPCA. After the exchange rate..the donation totals $163,000.
Sean Hogan is the SPCA Branch Manager. He says, "To put it into perspective, the Kelowna branch budget for veterinary costs adds up to around $150,000 each year, which we have to fund raise for, to pay for."
He says Kristen's gift will allow the SPCA to invest in other programs for the coming year.
