A Kelowna company is working towards a greener future through an ongoing pilot project.
The Province's new climate plan would require every new building constructed after 2031 will have a net-zero carbon footprint.
Create Green Consulting in Kelowna is already working towards that goal, with a test-house that is powered and heated by solar energy.
"We call it a living lab" said Project Manager Nicholas Schaffland. "We have pretty much put, or will be putting, every piece of technology we have into this house."
Company staff are currently living in the house, which has been retrofitted with a variety of solar panels.
"Our company actually specializes in architectural [design] as well." said Schaffland "So when we're doing our own architectural designs, these designs will be much more efficient because there's only so much we can do with a retrofit house."
The house is located at 727 Cassiar Crescent, and Schaffland says anyone is welcome to come take a look.
