Still not finished but still way under budget.
That's the latest story on the repair to a dangerous slope behind two homes on Kirschner Mountain.
Kelowna Development Engineering Manager James Kay says, "Very good news. The fear of a million dollar plus solution had everybody scared and concerned about who would pay. The fact that we're going to come in under that just reduces some of the financial pressure on everybody."
Kay says the two homeowners and the neighbours have been consulted constantly, almost on a daily basis. As a result, several design modifications have been incorporated as the work has progressed.
Weather permitting, the retaining walls will be constructed next and then the finishing touches. Most of the grading and shaping is complete.
Kay says, "We had to move a mountain of dirt and that takes time."
