For weeks, Kelowna city crews have been working to stablize a slope behind two homes in the Kirschner Mountain neighbourhood.
"Our crews have essentially completed the structural work. They're finishing off the last retaining wall. They're working with the homeowners to finalize the details and wrap up the project." says Kelowna Development Engineering Manager James Kay.
The original budget was a million dollars plus, but Kay says the job will be significantly under that number. Now, the question is who pays the bill?
"And that's still a major concern." says Kay. "Staff will be talking to the City Manager and Council in the coming weeks about recovery of those costs."
When the story first broke, it was the homeowners who were on the hook for the repair bill.
