The District of Lake Country is one of many communities across British Columbia to receive a piece of the Federal Gas Tax Fund.
A total of $192 million from the Federal Government is being distributed among BC communities towards 112 municipal projects.
Lake Country is receiving a total of $5 million for a number of municipal projects. These include:
-Renovations to the Winfield Arena
-Upgrades to the Senior's Centre
-The development of a brand new Multi-Generational Activity Centre.
"This is to provide a permanent home for our Boys and Girls Club," says Greg Buckle, Director of Infrastructure Services in Lake Country, on the subject of the Activity Centre. "Providing them with a space so that they can continue to deliver a program for all ages that is vital to our community."
The District hopes that planning and development can begin soon, with construction wrapping up at the end of 2019.
All of the projects combined comes to a cost of $6 million, and the District is contributing $1 million in addition to the Gas Tax funding.
