Tomorrow marks the first anniversary of legal marijuana in Canada.
And, it'll be day one for edibles, but that doesn't mean your neighbourhood pot store will have edibles right away.
Vancouver lawyer Sarah Leamon says the black market has not been eliminated and it may be years before that happens.
A key issue is products consumers want, whether smokeables, edibles, cannabis infused drinks, oils or topicals.
Leamon says,"And. also the price point. We want to make sure that the quality of the product matches what people want and what they want to pay for. I think there's a lot of factors here that all need to be addressed in order that we have a viable, legal market and the black market is effectively eliminated."
Leamon says despite the issues that still need to be solved, the positive with legalization is that we have removed the stigma around marijuana use.
Leamon is a regular writer for various cannabis publications.
